Dr. Fathi holds a Ph.D. in Structural (Civil) Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University, completed in 2003. He also undertook a supplementary sabbatical course at The University of Newcastle, Australia, in 2002. His academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in 1975, followed by a Master’s degree in Structural (Civil) Engineering in 1997, both from Tarbiat Modares University.

Dr. Fathi’s research interests are diverse and impactful, focusing on the nonlinear dynamic analysis of steel and concrete structures, composite materials and polymers, and modern material technology. He is particularly interested in the behavior of structures with seismic isolation, the application of energy dissipaters, shape memory alloy dampers, artificial intelligence, and neural networks in structural engineering. His work also extends to precast structures, semi-rigid joints, and steel plate shear walls.
