Dr. Jung received his Ph.D. in Physics from POSTECH in August 2010, under the supervision of Prof. Myung Ho Kang. His dissertation focused on the “First-principles study for the atomic and electronic structure of the Pb/Si(111)-(√7ⅹ√3) surface.” He completed his B.S. in Physics at Chungnam National University in August 2002.

Dr. Jung’s research interests are diverse and impactful. His work in Energy Materials Physics includes studies on lithium-ion battery electrode materials, solid electrolyte interfaces, and various advanced battery technologies such as sodium-ion, lithium-oxygen, and lithium-sulfur batteries. His Surface Physics research covers atomic and molecular reactions on surfaces, atomic wires and layers on metal and semiconductor surfaces, and graphene on metal surfaces.
🏆 Honors & Awards:
Dr. Jung has been the principal investigator (PI) for multiple prestigious research projects funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea. These include studies on the sodiation mechanisms of energy storage materials, multivalent-ion energy storage, and the ion transport mechanism of solid electrolytes for all-solid-state batteries.

Dr. Jung began his academic career as a Post-Doctoral Scholar at POSTECH and the Korea Basic Science Institute, where he worked on various projects under the guidance of Prof. Myung Ho Kang and Dr. Young-Kyu Han. He served as a Research Professor at Dongguk University before joining Pukyong National University, where he progressed from Assistant Professor to his current role as Associate Professor.
