Prof. Weon Ho Shin, Ph.D., born on August 12, 1982, in Busan, Republic of Korea, is a distinguished researcher and educator in the field of materials science and engineering. His expertise spans nanostructured materials, grain boundary engineering, lithium-ion batteries, solid-state batteries, supercapacitors, thermoelectric materials, carbon nanostructures, and 2D materials. He is currently a Professor at Kwangwoon University, contributing significantly to the advancement of materials science and engineering through his research, teaching, and academic leadership.

Prof. Shin completed his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2004, 2006, and 2011, respectively. His doctoral dissertation focused on “A study on the Hydrogen Generation and Storage Properties of Ammonia Borane Using NanoMaterials,” under the guidance of Prof. Jeung Ku Kang and co-advisor Prof. Jang Wook Choi.

After completing his Ph.D., Prof. Shin embarked on a remarkable career journey. He served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at KAIST/EEWS and KBSI before joining the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology for an internship program. He then worked as a Research Staff Member at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, followed by a Senior Researcher role at the Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology (KICET). Prof. Shin later transitioned to academia, starting as an Associate Professor and eventually becoming a full Professor at Kwangwoon University.
