Dr. Kostadin Gigov is a distinguished Bulgarian plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon whose career reflects a deep dedication to advancing patient care, surgical innovation, and medical education. Based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, he is a recognized specialist in pediatric reconstructive surgery with a strong focus on congenital craniofacial anomalies, including cleft lip and palate repair, otoplasty, and auricular and nasal reconstruction. He serves at the University Hospital “St. George,” providing highly specialized care at the Clinic of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery for Children, while also contributing to MBAL “Caridad” and earlier gaining valuable experience at the Medical Center for Plastic Surgery “Dr. Anton Tonev.” Dr. Gigov completed his medical degree at the Medical University of Plovdiv and pursued postgraduate specialization in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery, culminating in a defended dissertation on uranoplasty techniques. He further enhanced his academic background with studies in health management at the University of Agribusiness and Rural Development, equipping him with a rare combination of surgical and administrative expertise. His research focuses on improving surgical outcomes for craniofacial anomalies, advancing reconstructive techniques, and integrating digital innovations, including developing Bulgaria’s first electronic medical registry for facial anomalies. He has published in international journals, presented at leading scientific forums, and earned recognition from the Union of Scientists in Plovdiv, as well as acclaim through his participation in the European Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association congress. By combining clinical precision, academic research, and technological innovation, Dr. Gigov has built a career that not only transforms patients’ lives but also strengthens the future of reconstructive surgery in Bulgaria and beyond.
